A story about cheesebaskets
I have some strange baskets on my christmas tree, it is because of their history:
When I was a little girl, the lokal shops had christmas calenders and other goodies for children. We children colected like little squirrels. In 1959 the lokal cheeseshop had some advertisment christmas baskets, to cut out. I thought that they were Marwellous, and managed to get more than one (sneaky as I were, i went into the shop several days to get some more).
The family werent so happy, even my rather tolerant grandmother suggested that I used the handles on some other baskets. In my oppinion, that showed that she did not understand anything.
I insisted, that the baskets should be hanged on the christmas tree, and the next year too. The I reached the age, where I maybe could see that they not were that lovely, but my little sister still liked them, so the strange tradition continued another two years. Many ears later, my mother confessed, that she had a compleks about christmas trees: They allways made her think about cheese spread.
Some years ago, I found some left in my grandparents home, and couldnt resist to take them home.
