Min mands nisse

Min mand døde for nogle år siden; Han medbragte denne sære nisse.

My husbands "nisse"

My husband died some years ago; but he brought this strang thing into our marriage. It has a long history: My husband had an uncle who worked in one of copenhagens big department stores, in 1944 they had decorated with "patriotic nisser" a kind of "nissearmy", and my husband got this nisse as a Christmas present from the uncle when it was his first Christmas. It had a shotgun, but iit has desapeared many years ago. This nisse has followed my husband during his life, and it was the first decoration we put up every ear.
It certainly is no beauty, and rather worn out too, and it dosnt look too nice: my son, some years ago, told me that he was scared sick from it most of his childhood. But it does belong to christmas in this house.

Aurora

Orange tip butterfly

Something in a lighter colour was missing on my Christmas tree, so I drew this butterfly. The backside is not correct, It was too much work to draw it correctly.
It is easyest to cut the frontside a little "loosly", and trim the edges, when glued together.

flamingokugler

Polystyrene balls

They are made about 10 years ago, it was in fashion to make christmas ornaments this way. It was a problem to get some nice christmas fabric, so I tokk some dark blue fabric and painted some stars on it with silver paint for silk.
You take a ball of expanded polystyrene, cut some rather deep lines, cut some fabric in shape of the form between the lines (a little bigger), press the fabric down with a dinnerknife, wind some gold thread around following the lines and put a pushpin or a gold colloured roundheaded nail in top and bottom to hod the thread.

My strange Christmas tree

This year is not so much christmas for me, my son is having Christmas with his mother in law, and I have to work most of the days of Christmas.
That is the reason that I felt like being untraditional. When I mentioned this projekt for other people, they sounded like I am even crazyer than I use to be.
My projekt was to decorate a Christmas tree with only glassballs and nature related ornaments, drawn and cut by myself. I dont find it so completely crazy myself, it is a little crazy to take a tree into the livingroom, and decorate it, but it is a kind of symbolic summer, to lighten up the darkest period of the year. And that is what I have done: Decorated a Christmas tree with butterflies, ladybugs and other nature related things.
If anybody wants to use similar ornaments, you can find most of it on my blog, for download and print. I think that I need some more butterflies, I am working on it.

Stork as top for the Christmas tree

In the early times, they often used storks as top of the Christmas tree in Denmark, but it went out of use. I have made a big and a small one, the small is on the same picture.
I have put a bamboo stick for mixed grill in it, to fasten to the tree.

Julepynt

Christmas ornaments

It will not be so much christmas in my house this year, I have to work Christmas eve and Christmas day. My son are with his mother in law.
Because of that, I am not having the big traditional Christmas tree this year, but I took some photos of some of my Christmas ornaments last year.
This are some of them: The two baskets in top are from my fathers childhood, they are at least 70 years old. and the two pictyres under are some I made several years ago. The baskets are made from plaited bast sewn together in a spiral in shape of baskets. The two hearts are made of rope in simple macrame.

Solnedgang

Sunset

Two photos of sunset from my window

Ladybugs - once more

Now a sheet filled with ladybugs in two sizes. I hav tried to print then on cardstock snd on thin glossy Photopaper. They look best on photopaper, glossy and brighter in colour, but the glue has a tendency to remove the colour from the paper, if it is not applied very precisely.
The photo shows one made of each kind of paper.
You cut one of the sides of the white triangles, and put glue onto them, to make the three dimentional form.
They are not for small children to make.

skovsyre

Wood sorrel

They are not too difficult. The flower is cut out and glued together, make a tiny fold in top of the leaves, and press it a little flat in the buttom, it makes it easier to stick the flower to the leaves. Cut three leaves, and glue them together, parts of them in top of the others, and glue the flower in top of them.
The template for the flower comes from Craftstylish:

Sommerfuglehjerter

Lidt mere traditionel julepynt.

Hearts with butterflies

More traditional Christmas ornaments. They are supposed to be easy to make for children.

To ark til med sommerugle til julepynt

Two more sheets with butterflies as Christmas ornaments

They are made the same way as described in the post below. I very much hope, that the outer lines on the blue ones fit together, if not they can be trimmed after glued together. If it is totally impossible, write about it to me.

Butterflies as Christmas ornaments

People tell me that I am crazy: "Butterflies do not belong to a Christmas tree", but why not? A Christmas tree is a summer symbol you have in your house in the darkest time of the year, And what is mmore like summer than a butterfly?
They are best printed on thin cardstock or thick paper. The dark ones are for the backsides, they are glued to the front sides. It is best to cut a little outside the antennas. You can fasten them to the branches with a needle.

The merrygoround finished

Now I did collect the currage to finnish the merrygoround. It is terribly difficult to make, You have to be rather skilled to make it, just a warning!
It is big, and as Christmas ornament, it needs a big tree. It could be used in a Christmas landscabe too.

Karrusel

Merrygoround

No it is certainly not perfect! but I had lot of fun. It is loopsided, the middle is too narrow, it is difficult to know before you make it. The sleigh is orientated the wrong way, I am a little forgetfull. And it is too big, but I dont think it is possible to make it smaller.

To julekurve med blomster

Two baskets for christmas tree
