Lofter på Thorvaldsens Museum

Lofterne er inspireret af romerske væg og loftmalerier. De er efter min mening meget smukke.

The ceilings on Thorvaldsens Museum

The museum was opened 1848, it was made to show the sculptures made by Thorvaldsen, he was very famous in his time, he worked most of his life in Rome, and it was a big celebration, when he came back to Denmark. The architect of the museum is Michael Gottlieb Bindesbøll (1800 – 1856). The ceilings are painted in roman style by different artists.

Stunning!

The building is much more interesting than the sculpture.
